Huntingdonshire Aviation Group
Huntingdonshire Aviation Group Forum
The Huntingdonshire Aviation Group was started
in February 2008, by a group of people with strong and varied interests in
aviation, past and present, in the areas in and around Huntingdonshire, and
further afield.
The area itself boasts a history of flight dating back to 1910, and saw huge
development during the First and, particularly the Second, World Wars. Today,
there is still a large presence of active military sites in the area, as well
as many civil and light aviation centres.
The group aims to explore, record, and preserve the significant parts of this
rich history, by means of photographic expeditions to sites of interest, making
contact with veterans and those who worked and flew over these skies, and
collecting artefacts relevant to the area.
A key part of what we do is to share the knowledge acquired through these
activities by means of this and associated websites, our forums, and by monthly
meetings where items of interest are displayed, and presentations of film
and photographs take place.
Though this group, our website, and our forums are still in their early stages,
we welcome anyone who shares our interest to participate in our forums. And,
if you are able to travel to our meetings, we will be more than pleased to
see you there.
Our meetings are held on the last Wednesday of each month, from 7pm onwards
at the Old Ferry Boat at Holywell, between Huntingdon and St.Ives.
